I went ahead and added user ranks so there will be some sort of seniority here, the user ranks are as follows:

< 250 posts = Newbie
251 - 1000 posts = Mini XModder
1001 - 2000 posts = XModder
> 2001 posts = Godlike XModder

I also added a Moderator user rank just to make it a little easier to find us in the threads.

If anyone has any opinions or better names don't hesitate to state them in this thread.

Thank you,
Derik

Edit: User Ranks do not give any certain member special privileges (with the exception of Moderators) they are just here to give some people a "reward" for posting and giving their help/guidance to others.

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

Ok, I added the star gifs back to the user ranks and I decided that I am not going to make a new rank to fill the void between 500 and 1000 posts.

I added the rules that we made to all of the forums except Tutorials, Buy/Sell/Trade, and the Feedback forum since those forums have their own specific rules.

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

Well when someone warns a user it can be sent through a PM, I would like to get a moderator forum setup but that is farther down the line, there are much more important things to get done first.

There will never be a "completely off topic" section since this is a forum where minors frequent, we have to have some sort of control over what is allowed to be posted.

Good ideas, thanks.

For what it's worth...

I'm not a moderator on this site, as you may know, but what I've seen on other forums are places designated for moderators only. That way, when one of you warns a user, you can inform the rest of the team. In cases such as this, it can also be used for you to discuss issues at hand as well as discuss what to do with troublesome users. To relieve some of the spamming from sig, avatar, and post testing, another section could be set up totally for testing crap. You could even make it a completely off topic section... that way, moderators won't even need to worry about it. Just my 2¢, delete this post if I'm out of line.

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

Heres a few more:

1. Only one account should be registered per person. It's not cool to use your other account to post in your own threads!

2. Keep the flaming to a minimum, if you have to use the PM sytem!

3. Dont break the tables! If you need a image re-sized let me know and I will try my fastest to do it for you. (kind of a personal one....broken tables make me mad!)

4. Spamming is not cool. Advertise your website or whatever in your "SIGNATURE"

5. Racial comments are strictly prohibited.

etc.......I will try and think of more

Also, the "F" word should be changed to "daisy" by the software.

Very nice Mongo, only thing is that:

Quote:
2. No cussing is allowed. No using *'s to reference cussing.

Those asterisks are automatically added when a person tries to curse, there are censored words and the software finds and replaces the words with a predefined "fixed" word.

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

here are some.

1. Post subject must be descriptive. Subjects like 'Help me now!!!, waste time as it does not tell anyone what area you are having a problem in.

2. No cussing is allowed. No using *'s to reference cussing.

3. Only post in a subject if your post is relavent to the topic on hand.

4. Do not make once sentance post. If you do not have something important to say, don't say it.

5. Read the various forums and become familiar with them before you make your first post. Chances are you may find the answer to your question before you post.

6. If you must contact a specific member of this site, use the Private Message feature, do not make a new post in the forum.

7. Respect the author of a thread. Stay on topic, do not hijack or otherwise disrupt the topic or thread in general.

When I think of more I will add them.

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

Yes, we should have established rules...it should be made a Sticky in all of the forums.

Hell, start making the rules in here...then we can get a list of rules compiled and get it out there.

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

Should we maybe have a clear 'forum rules' post and make it obvious what is expected from members?

I am open to any suggestions for improving XMODWORLD. :D

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

I see where you are coming from; I understand that locking/deleting a thread doesn't really "punish" a user. If that doesn't work PM them, if they continue to be a nuisance PM me or Kai and let us know, after we warn them and they continue a banning will be the next course of action.

I am on enough where no one should have a problem getting in touch with me.

I hope that answers your question. Kai and I have plans to fix some of the problems that are currently plaguing the boards; hopefully they will get established in the near future.

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

Thats not exactly what I meant but ok. I think these boards need some changes in the way we react to "problems". When a mod locks or deletes a topic or a post some dont leave a reason or even say who they are. I know I do.....I'm also not going to name anyone. We need to inforce the rules more also. Like when some uses about 10 swears in a post and they just get away with it, that needs to completely change. I know there are some young kids (maybe not). We dont want this place to seem like a its run by a bunch of idiots with a small vocabulary do we? I am totally into helping this place get cleaned up. After the mass deleting of threads alot of people got up and left, some being great and helpfull contributions.

Please correct me if I'm worng....I have a hard time putting my words into text :D

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

No, what is the point of keeping a feature of the boards out because you are afraid of a spammer? We are Moderators...our job is to handle the "bad eggs" that find their way on to this board, if the person doesn't respond to your words; Kai or myself will ban them.

It's that simple.

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

Wasnt the whole idea of leaving the ranks out to keep people from spamming up the boards top get higher levels?

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

It's funny you mention that because I am in the process of adding a new rank to fill the void between 251 - 1000, I will not be adding anything between 1001 - 2000 posts since 1000 posts is an established member in my book.

As soon as Kai gets the new star gifs uploaded the new rank will get implemented.

Re: User Ranks and Forum Rules.

My only suggestion would be a little more frequency in the changing of ranks.... Most folks don't plan on posting more than 500 times. But, it's better than having everyone as Newbie.
