"N" cell batteries are very simular to the ones you use in your car remote. they look like someone took a AAA and sqished it till it was about an inch high.

I'm not even sure if RS still sells the rechargable N size batts. They stopped selling those a while ago. I'm sure they aren't 700Mah like the AAA's however. Prolly work fine but only for a couple minutes. Plus you would have to get dual N size holders for the sides and your just getting into a mess. Could get into AAAA's never looked at those. Doubt there are rechargables out there.

Probably not a good idea. Idealy, you should use the same type of cells all around for the best performance.
