JSkyhawk, u cocky piss head! one (ceramic) is for the raido interferance.
and the other is to protect the circuit board, not from extra voltage, but from voltage created by the engine. u see, while coasting the engine acts as a generator and can send small spikes back into the circuit board.

It stops that extra voltage from traveling back into your ESC and frying it, so yes they are a important part of the car/motor.
nice guess but no.....
they are there to reduce electrical noise from the motor. if you choose not to use them you will notice that your car will not recieve signals well because of this interference... if at all.
sorry to shoot you down einstien... i mean elephen
Re: !HELP! do u need to use capacitators on a spinbrush motor?
the black cap stores power becose when the motor is costin its a genarotor and the cap is there so the power dosent go back to the esc.The disc cap(brown one) is there for the radio so there is no interferince
Re: !HELP! do u need to use capacitators on a spinbrush motor?
they have nuttin to do w/ the radio. y would the b on the motor? they just store energy because when the motor coasts it produces power. or sumtin like 'at.

Dude, don't double post worthless junk :)
Anyway.. Yes you do need the resistor and the capacitor. They both DO serve a useful purpose and you DO need them, if you don't use them you run a risk of either messing up your motor or your PCB possibly.

so while you guys fight over what them little thingys do, is someone going to make a decent sb guide with pics?????????????????????????????????????
finally!!! we have a winner!!!

dang man, go blow smoke up someone elses a$$
well there was no need for correction... seeing this has been posted under 20 topics already. oh yea and
drac already stated it
Thanks for correcting me sir

Lookup one of RCGUYS posts, he explains it in-depth and very understandable. They both DO serve a crucial function on your motor.
they are both capacitors, they help avoid radio interferance...
