O.K. I just upgraded to lithiums and I think I burnt up my 9 tooth. It screamed for about 10 mins then it started to slow down. It still runs, but about the same as it did with the AAA's. Anyways as soon as it started acting funny and I touched the heatsink and that thing was WAY too damn hot. I put in my 10 tooth and it seemed fine (although not enough torque for me) I ran it for about 5 and once again the heatsink was hot as hell. Now my question...
I just bought a stacked FET EP from ink_pup and I was wondering what 130 size motor I can run that will run cooler than the Stage 2's?
Ok. i finished it in the tutorial section.
Could you add that to our tutorial section, please. :D
It would probably be a sticky tutorial.
Im done with my tut. Here is a link to my website. http://www.freewebs.com/xmodfanatix/
It's sharp looking alright...be sure to get it it's own topic next time though.
I cut up a CPU heatsink to size and used thermal adhesive to bond it. I will soon have a tut for it. Its actually not much heavier than the stock rs heatsink 'cause of the holes and aluminum material.
Yeah, that heat shrink loos pretty nice, how did you do it? Isn't it pretty heavy?
Dude, this topic is over a year old. Don't think he needs help anymore.
But I would like to hear more about the heatsink setup in the pic. Where did you get it? Or how did you make it?
Inquiring minds want to know. 8)
Drill holes in the heat sink and motor can. It provides more surface area.

I think I have help my car a bit by moding the s2 heat sink. it does not seem as hot to the touch as before and run times have gone up a couple of min.
Frist I took a file to the fins and sharpened them ^ next if you look at the underside one of the (vent/mag holder) is covered so I filed the heatsink down there too. so no the motor breaths better and should disipate heat better... the next thing I might do is to cut a grove across the fins to allow for more surface area. it
Hell yeah ping pong I agree 100% there is nothing like it
try touching a hott gurl =D burn like hell!
jk
lets get back to his question please.. haha
Try molten iron from a cutting torch. It is around 2500+ degrees fell in my boot while cutting and burnt a hole in my foot.
Touch the soldering iron until the fat under your skin starts to smolder. Then tell me what hot is. The solder is only 400 degrees or so when it hits your skin. The iron can be 1100+
 has it ever popped into your mind that you DONT TOUCH PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN RAN THE FUCK OUT OF FOR TEN MIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you think that thats hot try dropping liquid hot soilder on your finger than talk to me about ouch
I think just about all aftermarket motors run cooler than the S2's. I run my XTR with lithiums and no heat sink and haven't had a problem yet. It does make enough heat to make the body hot though....
