you should pick up the woah nelly turbo.....it gives 24amps so you can run that chukin 120,000 rpm motor, but it will cost you about a good $34 bucks....but i heard it is all worth it......also the woah nelly turbo is easier to install then the 4562 fets....heres a link for the woah nelly turbo....

Here's some statistics on Nelly Deluxe.

Max voltage: 12V, or 3 li-ion (10.8V) or 3 li-poly (11.1V)
Max current: 16A (100A peak)
Total Resistance: 0.0087 Ohms
Dimensions (in mm): 30W x 24L x 5H
*estimated* retail: $48USD

For the same price you can get a V2 from http://www.atomicmods.com/electronics.htm and have the ability to run 30 volt and 30 amps constant and is much easier to install. The stats for the nelly are taken directly from the site.

How do you figure?? If the motor doesn't pull more amprage than a 2x2 FET configuration of 14 amps then it should be fine to run that motor.

SO true... but also that motor will need a heat sink, and so will the FET's other wise everything will fry... literally..

Also the motor wont get the Xmod running fast, I mean after 20 minutes it will be flying, but it has no troque to push the car to its peak before it doesn't really need it anymore... or something like that.

I don't even think Neo Magnets would help too much, sure they would help, but not by a large margin.

Shorter gear ratios create more torque...at the wheels where it matters.
If said motor can run evern 60,000RPM on typical xmod voltages and still maintain *some* torque at that high of an rpm...then it will make POWER. Also to be able to run 120k at 12V it must have very good brush/comm design, so the heat of running it in an xmod should be a non-issue.

To put it simply: torque is worth more when its created at a higher rpm.
To put it the long way, check out these links for explenations of how rpm/power/torque/gears all combine for speed.
http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mhorsepower.html
http://www.datsuns.com/torquehp.htm

both are interesting reads if you are in to fast cars...no matter what scale.

On the same topic of torqueless high speed motors:
I sort of wonder how 'useless to an xmod' the plasma dash REALLY is. Could it be everyone wants to run it with 11+ tooth pinion setups for top speed when its real advantage would be an 8tooth setup with hand-of-god acceleration and top speed still in excess of an S2 11 tooth?

Re: 120,000 rpm motor on ebay!!!

if it's meant for slotcar, then it's 120000rpm at 12volts. It'll probably spin O.K., but neo mags and a fet upgrade is certainly required...I wouldn't put too big of a pinion either...betcha it gets real hot!

dont get it, it lacks the torque to move an xmod and you would need a V2 or serious fet upgrade....

motor is designed for lighter R/C cars or slot cars
