I would like to introduce the Rhino to everyone at XmodWorld. It is an upgrade kit that converts you XMOD truck (F-150 or Hummer) into a true monster truck. With 2.5" tires and 1.75" of suspension travel the truck will be able to put a wheel on top of a Hummer with all the other wheels still on the ground. I began designing the parts in CAD this winter and recieved the prototypes today (7/3). The truck will go on sale soon through my website, http://www.machxracing.com, be sure to check for updates soon. Finally, pictures:

(note- wheels and shocks are not mounted on mockups)
I hope you enjoy!

Well, he responded to my E-mail the next day, yet again.
It's nice to hear from you again, glad to see you're still following the project. Well, school just ended for me and I have a pretty light job so I should finally have some time to make some headway in the project this summer. As I have been working on the Rhino I have discovered just how insanely ambitious I had been about the whole thing and how some things take a lot longer than expected, especially when you are learning them and doing them for the first time. I expected to easily make molds and pour parts but instead I have found that there is whole lot of trial-and-error and it does not come easily. I have enjoyed working on the project and have learned much in the process but I do feel bad for those who got their hopes up about the final product, like yourself. I'm not sure when the Rhino will be finished but I hope this summer will be very productive and that I'll have something to show you by the end of it.

any updates? pics?
Big update:
I sent him an E-mail last night, and already have a response. The quick responses, and the E-mail explain it all:

~Junk ET
are those wheels and tires from an xray nitro mt18? they look very simalar.
I haven't given up yet, it's just been a little too cold to pour molds. Once I get adjusted to my schedule at school I'll get this rolling again. I'm excited because I should have some more free time this semester to work on the project. Don't give up on me yet, I'm working on it. :DTim
Oh, and if it's not private, can you teach us the basics of mold-making/pouring? I have my own project that I want to take to the product level (basically following your footsteps) and if casting plastic is precise and consistent enough, I'll definitely consider trying my hand at it.
Junkmoder is pessimistic, dont worry about him, we havent lost faith. :)
Actually, I am...my mom was 30 minutes late picking me up from school this week, and I thought that she got in an accident.
Well, it's so awesome to hear that you're still going to finish making it! :D :D
I will definatly buy one (I just have to grab one and test it out).

Well, it seems 'obvious' that he gave up.
I can't be right for sure, but it seems that way. :(

Hey!
I have recently gotten a Hummer and Love it! I added all the RS parts and did a body lift for off roading! The Rhino kit would be amazing to have! Like an "expansion kit" for the EvoT platform!
Great Idea!
And count me in on a Rhino when they are available!
Holla!!
Evo-Devil!!!
I must have that even if its $8o :D :D :D :D :D 8O 8O 8O
i think the truck will be around for a long time becaus of those people who love big trucks and muding and they should cum out with more dolnt you think? id like to c a new chevy 1500 that whould be cool with the rhino kit and dude ill buy a kit when its done and did you try heating the mold and then pouring in to it
This would be the one time I regret being right, you know... I hope you get it out for sale before the Xmods' shelf-life is over.
Well Mongo was on top of posting this, I'm not going to be able to finish this in time for Christmas but I have far from given up on the project. The big mold that I took pictures of just wouldn't fill right. Every pour would make it about 3/4 of the way up and stop so I need to figure out what is going wrong with the mold and once I solve that problem I can work on all of the other molds. I'm glad I didn't make a bet with Color0 because he kind-of predicted this would happen.
The axles will initially be made out of light stainless steel because I wasn't able to find a dealer with aluminum rod. When I do find a dealer everyone who got a Rhino will get the upgrade.
I thank you guys for your support and trust me I know the importance of getting the Rhino out soon because who knows how long the XMOD trucks are going to be around anyways.
Sad News(Dec 5, 2006)
Unfortunately, due to complications with the first molds and other problems that have come up along the way, the Rhino will not be released until after Christmas. I hope we have not missed a critical window in the XMOD Truck lifetime by taking the time to build a strong truck. As always, I thank you for your patience and I hope you stock up on XMOD trucks this Christmas so that come springtime you can tear up some dirt with your Rhino!Respectfully,
Tim Hall - Owner and Head Engineer, Mach X Racing
mayb he ran into a glitch in his plans and if he ever does sell the kit i would gladly pay over $80 for it it is an awasum idea and i would like to see it get finished and i have one ? what are you going to use to make the axles it would have to be made from some typ of alloy to withstand the strain of being extended out that far and taking abuse from jumping drivine and what ever your going to do with it.
I bet he just gave up on it... :(
But...I probably wouldn't get one, anyway.

What happened here?! :?:
I really want an upgrade/prototype/Rhino Kit...
Junk ET
[quote:a6eb3c2021="Junk-mod-er"]HOLY SH--I don't want to spend 80 bucks on that...good design though...
you would easaly spand over $80 on just stock alloy parts that seems like a good price
I've already stated, and so has MachXRacing...that I have the first one, and I'm paying $80 for it.
...and, you're wrong on that...I spend money on GPM, OVER TIME...I usually don't spend more than $20 at once...
I can't wait for an update! :D

I'm impressed, you've taken a wild idea and done something with it, just for the sake of the hobby and a tiny bit, if any, of profit.
You da man. :)
(It's my turn next. Check your pm's.)
Finish this man! Id still most likely get one. The price is VERY steep though, lower to around 50 and youd be selling alot of them.
agree with that, lower it to $50 and you have another client
WOW! All I can say is "amazing!"
You must have put an enormous amount of time and effort into that project. The finished product will look sweet!

Hmmm Id like this esp. for winter but unlike a 1/10, and xmod cant be waterproofed.

Mold looks good!
Make sure you contact RPM RC Products and have them make parts..
The mold has finished! It was a little scary because I guess a missed a few places when I was applying the mold release because it was pretty well stuck together but the details on the parts are great and I'll be pouring some plastic into them soon. Enjoy!

Texan_Idiot: Because of the type of coding the dropdown boxes use I haven't been able to figure out how to add some space between the Rhino Kits and the Gallery. It's bothering me too. The stuff in the manual was kinda just testing you can tell by the grainy picture and all but I needed some way of identifying the individual parts so that you would have a reference to look back to when I refer to them in the main directions. I'm still working on it and your comments are appreciated.
great job on the site, few things ive noticed:
1) in the drop box, for products, then rhino, when the extension pops out, it looks like gallery is part of that extension. so add some space, or a divider i guess
2) the .pdf file is a nice touch, page 4 is a lil wierd, lists, diagrams, lots of listed things, all labeled with the same 1,2,3,4 deal. but im sure thats temporary.
3) mention the new Titan starter kit, along with everywhere else you mention the F150 and Hummer.
the site is lookin much better.
and the product, man i cant wait to see a runnin' chassie. good luck!

Man the truck is sexy, I need one for X-mas, because I'm looking for a mini-z on my birthday (oct 25 yay!). you are bussness-man mach
Well I was able to resume work on my production mold today. I needed to wait for new mold release because the other stuff I had wasn't doing the trick and could have destroyed the work I had done. It should be finished by noon tomorrow and then I will pour some parts. It is about time that I got the ball rolling again and I'm looking to be finished in time for a mid-November release. Thanks for your patience!
P.S. I've finished updating the look of my website now I need to keep adding content. http://www.machxracing.com
[quote:52e9c2bf18="machxracing"]Release date: I'm going to have to prove color0 wrong on this one and set a tentative release date sometime in late November. There would need to be a very major problem to push the release after Christmas. I recognize that the prime opportunity for most people would be to get a Rhino for Christmas so I'm pushing very hard to get it done as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience!
I just want one, now!
I can't drive it in the snow...when it's Christmas.
If you even have a prototype, I'll buy it.
Thanks.
Junk ET
Lol. I can't drive during the summer, the xmod overheats cuase it's 105 outside, but the winter is fine. Too cold for you, too hot for me..

I'll just buy a prototype!

WILL YOU SHUT UP ABOUT ME IN THIS THREAD?
That was literally almost last year that I thought he gave up on this. I have been E-mailing him 'since February. I haven't said anything of that sort in a while.
I can't wait to see a finished prototype. :D
~Junk ET
Take pictures farther away with no zoom, and crop. ;) Solves the blurryness
Soo, this is where the suspension arms link to, I guess?

Well I finished the other side of the mold and it came out just as well as the first. I poured a few parts in the mold and had to adjust my technique a little so that they would come out right but I think the (very blurry) pictures should speak for themselves. Just for fun I took it outside and was smashing it against some concrete as a pseudo strength test and the parts are holding up awesomely!
And Junk kept talking about that you werent doing anything about it...
Cool beans, keep us updated

Nice to see this coming along so good - I'm among all the eagerly awaiting memers that wants to get one of these once it's completed so please keep us updated.
I do recall getting dibs on the first prototype/kit.
Keep it up! :D
I just thought about something...he will be like a legend here, when he finishes that. :)

That's awesome! Keep it up.

Howdy Everyone!
It has been a little too long since I've had an update for the project. I finished pouring the first half of another mold today and all I can say is I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. Here are some pictures:
Thank you to those who have stayed with me through the project, I really appreciate your support. Now I'm off to pour the other half and get some parts poured too.
Well, he found out what I did... join the club, machX.
'You know it.
I cut off the greeting and PS message. :P
Look at how much more he wrote to me. :P
I'm just pulling your leg, but, to go with the topic, I can't wait. :D
