Hey all its been About 2 weeks since I last visited this site and thought I might show you my newest project. I made a Aluminum chassis for my xmod. Hand made, with hand tool (files, hammer, punch) and a drill press.

I still need to sand it with l;ike 400 grit sand paper then, polish it, but other than that its done, it made sterring on my car amazing, and made acceleration much faster.

Re: Custom Aluminum Chassis

It looks ALOT better then the first chassis I made... Great Job!
Once you get the holes to line up well, then you can play with different designs and cutout options. :)

Re: Custom Aluminum Chassis

His chassis *is* nice, and I pointed that out. But I do think that he needs to put it into perspective that he is not the center of attention. If you call that negativity, IMO you're spoiling him. That's my $.02.

Re: Custom Aluminum Chassis

I dun usually jump in on things like this either, but it did seem the being high on himself comment was kinda overdoin' it. I don't think anywhere in his posts did he comment his was better than anyones or the best around. I think his comment about chatter was him hoping for more feedback about what he tried for the first time.

color0: Whaddya want, a raise? It's not overwhelmingly hard to make a custom chassis, lol... yours looks nice enough, clean cuts and straight lines.

...maybe he doesn't have access to or want to spend endless hours like some people designing a chassis on his computer...hrmmm..I wonder....

Regardless, I still respect all the people that posted...I just was surprised at the level of negativity from two of the more reputable people around.

I am going to try my own chassis soon...but, you can bet I won't be posting that one for any help/comments/etc...

WOW LOTS OF CHATTER ABOUT THIS ONE

I hope you were trying to be funny....

On a scale of difficulty, I give it a 5.(super basic but functional)
For a finished product, i give it an 8.(get some fine grit sand paper and get polishing!)

Next time don't be so high on yourself until you cen pull off something intricate. i know of what I speak of...

you buthole. u kno wat its like to do somethin for the first time and wen u get it done your realy proud of yourself. you kno it aint amazing but u like it and would just like to sho it off. thats all he is doin. he aint high on himself he is just proud just like u r with ur car. leave him alone

I dont really think that cowboy was trying to be a jerk about it, unlike you. He didnt say it sucked, all he said was it needed some work. Theres nothing wrong with that, its just some constructive criticism. Maybe you should think before you speak.

Re: Custom Aluminum Chassis

Befoer I drilled, polished sanded and polished again then cleaned.

After I drilled polished sanded polished then cleaned.

Note: the polish wasnt as nice as I wanted it to be and left a green residue behind, so I cleaned it up and used a different polish, the dark spots are some of the green polish I couldn't get out.

Re: Custom Aluminum Chassis

Tie Wraps, work well, and when I want to take out the electronics I undo the screws and slide the chassis out from underneath.

Whaddya want, a raise? It's not overwhelmingly hard to make a custom chassis, lol... yours looks nice enough, clean cuts and straight lines.

How are your battery packs held on? Black rubber bands? :?

Re: Custom Aluminum Chassis

I only have 2 gen1's. 1 with a bad everything electronic.

*edit* It was actually pretty easyto make, just the front wheel alignment was the sketchiest part to do.

Re: Custom Aluminum Chassis

been thikning about doing one myself, but with only 6 gen1s to play with and 4 evos with none to be found round these neck of the woods anymore.. i kinda/sorta want to park them and let them collect dust.

but you know how it is.. im trying to convince myself to not touch them, but everyday one of them crashes at full speed into somthing.. lol!

Re: Custom Aluminum Chassis

well yeah I could do that... (holes)
this is the first time ive ever made anything out of metal myself...
If your wondering why there is no switch, I took it out cause I didnt want to make the support for it, now the switch is theft deterrent(lol) acting like a key for my xmod. Will post more pics after polishing and possibly holes?
Anyway it was fun to make :D
