I saw this on Ebay when I was browsing Xmods stuff.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Xmods-Evolution-Truck-Hummer-Magnetic-Shock-Upgrade_...

Anybody else ever seen something like this? Or know how well it would perform? I don't plan on buying it or anything, springs are fine with me...but I was just curious if it was another XI ripoff like that capacitor a while back..lol

EDIT: The auction ended, but I saved a picture of it.

Not through magnetism though. Cadillac has used Magnetic ride control for over a decade. Basically, the material in the dampeners is reactive to magnetism, so the more magnetic forces you apply, the stiffer they get.

Re: Magnetic Suspension

Oil dampers at this scale are hard enough to create, now just try filling them with oil and wrapping an electromagnetic coil around each one, lol... better off trying it with a Micro-T where you have room to play.

A nice revisit to one of Calvin's coolest creations though. :)

Wrong. XI didn't design squat. This was another great thing that nivlacs3z (RIP) did for us on this scale.

That's kinda what I was thinking. You'd get lucky if they were the stiffness you wanted, and even then, I can't see what benefits they would give you over springs.

Re: Magnetic Suspension

I just saw something about them in an RIP thread somewhere in off topic...

Re: Magnetic Suspension

I don't think it was designed by XI. Think I remember something about a GSR member designing them...can't be sure though.
