This is my next body mod. I snagged the FD body from Atomic. It's getting a PPG Mazda Brilliant Black paint job.

The color of choice.

Re: FD RX7 "Progress"

RX7s are some sexy cars. Too bad they never really took off in the US.

The first model year on the mustang was 1964 and 1/2  .

Re: FD RX7 "Progress"

Skifreak, here you go!

First, you find the wheelbase of your model. If it fits on the chassis without any modification, that's good. If it doesn't, figure a way to extend the chassis. Be creative.

Next, you fabricate a front clip. Make it so that the body is at the height you want it. This clip can be made from plastic, wood, or even metal. Again, use your creativity.

Now, you find where you want the rear clip to be. Mark this, and connect the rear clip to the body. Spacers may be needed to bring the clip to the desired position. Test this position; make sure the body is even with the chassis.

And you are done. Hope this helps. If any clarification is needed, I'll try to help you to the best of my abilities.

Re: FD RX7 "Progress"

It was. I'm on my 1st coat after wet sanding now. Once that's dry and cured I'll clear coat it then mount the windsheild and lenses.

Re: FD RX7 "Progress"

After 3 coats of black over 2 coats of primer. Still needs a little sanding, a couple more coats and then the clear.

Re: FD RX7 "Progress"

Very nice mounting. I love those rims. Make sure you do a clean paintjob, and it will be about perfect as you could get it.

Re: FD RX7 "Progress"

Dude, not cool, I wanted an FD but nobody had any in stock during the Xmas season (I settled for an AE86). *grumble*

Good luck, the FD is a nice looking shell and if you can fix up the front end it will be a great looking shell.
