I have been working on this project for quite a while now.....before these pictures it just had civic bumpers and side skirts on it with the wide body. i thought this was too plain so.....
firstly i ripped the rear bumper off and i am replacing it with the aggresive skyline bumper, oh and ive ripped off the side skirts and am replacing them with skyline ones :)
then i need to putty putty putty then paint
....needs a lot of work!sorry about the bad quality pics

just puttied the side skirts and rear bumper onto the car.
was such a pain to get right!!!
anyway heres the updates:

ive decided it is going to be purple haha
this kind of purple:
its on the hood

what do you think?
There are probably no manual controlls, so there is literally nothing he can do about it. They came out clean enough to see some detail. He could (when it's all done of course) take some pictures on a blank, white background, so there is no change in color/light which will make it focus on something else. But since it's a white primered car, there is nothing he can do. (Unless of course he uses a black background, but I'm sure the paint is still too wet to move.)
Stupid Auto-Focusing camera's. I love my manual controls. :D
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That does look very nice. But I do have to agree with Color, it doesn't look like the rear wheel is going to fit over the Arch. That, and it just looks awkward because one arch is huge, and the other is really tiny.
Hope this'll turn out as nicely as I think it will. Make sure you lay the paint like you did on the hood, and this will look really, really, good. ;)
That looks friggin' AWESOME! :D
But, I'd just like to point something out...
When you take your pictures, your camera is always focused on something other than the body...look:

The red circles are where the camera is focusing...I wouldn't know how your camera works, so I couldn't tell you what to do better. :?

Im liking it!!! its looking good! 8)
Rear arch isn't going to fit over the wheels, I don't think. Looks like good progress though, nice work. :)
milliput superfine white. got it from a hobby store for £4.99
and it lasts forever you won't run out lol its great stuff, its like palydoe so easy to work with
very clean work till now!
what kinf of putty did you use?
thanks!
update!
i've just primed it quickly to see all the imperfections clearly, i cleary still have my work cut out
In my opinion the side skirts look crap, so i'm going to continue the arches down to cover the first little scoop parts of the side skirt on both sides, which will leave the good part of the skirt left as well as making the arch look better.
i have a lot of filling to do and the rear bumper im aiming to sand right down where it meets the boot, so that there are no lines at all, just a smooth curve.
You can see the car taking shape though aye!

new update!!! beware loads of piccys lol
new rear arch done, looks sooo much better in my opinion, starting to look lush!, i think it looks amazing from the front
filled in all chips, lines down side of car, and rear window lines (they were destroyed from previous work lol)

new arch

wow that looks freakin sweet.
I think it's awesome!
I can't wait to see it finished....
good luck.
t3n
nope its ford purple velvet :D from halfords
right all the putty has now been sanded, all i need to do is fill in the holes and gaps.
now that everything is on securely, i can begin filling in all the details to get it looking perfect :D

If that's a purple metal flake that Testors makes, it's the same paint I used on the F-150.

Looks like that outside.
Anyways, great work so far.

I've seen that color purple done by someone else on some other forum, and it's a great color. Good choice, it's a very nice shade of purple.
Hopefully the whole car will turn out as nicely as the hood did. Good work.
nice start.
GOD what happened with all that rubbish in all these topics?
anyway got a little update, blended rear arches in, still needs a lot of work....i am to finish the bodywork this weekend 8) got other things to do before my deadline
WOW
hello again!
i thought i would come on and let you know what i've been up to etc.
i'm just about to enter the world of automotive design and have a university interview on the 18th of february...as it's design based i need a portfolio...this car is going to be one of the main sections of my portfolio showing my skills.
I'll think you'll be glad to hear that i need to get it finished by the 18th no excuses 8)
i've done a few extra hours on it thus far...but still have a long long way to go...will have a lot more bodywork done tonight, almost to the stage of completion...so stay tuned...here are some recent pics:
Go with the red. Try doing a gold or pale gold undercoat with a candy apple red overcoat. Saw it in a tuner mag, and it looked really cool.
either my blue green purple flip paint
or candy red...cant decide...slightly favouring the red at the moment.....will bring up the work soo much.
What colors?
ok

back arches are moulded to the rear.
had to redo all the parts next to the windows as the filler was done badly and was cracking.
it's much stronger now :)
bad boy hood done again.
arches widened
front arches altered.
and about the length of time taken, i don't know what to say
but i'm going to get it done! :D and it will be a beauty ;)
i don't think it will be too long now til i have it in the paint booth ;)
heres updates:
luke
Dude, I think this was started before I joined, lol.
It's coming along great, keep it up :)
But this has been going for how long now? y
but its still not heavy at all....will be easily pulled by a stock chassis.
and it's really jsut for show will never be driven once done.
thats still more than stock weight with a body kit on it
theres not actually really that much on there
it jsut looks more then it is.
front arches and bottom lip on front bumper, number plate recess and thats it really.
the civic is going to be so HEAVY after all the bondo and sanding and paint
hey this looks good...im pretty new to xmods but was wonder what you are usuing to mold the body?
UPDATE!

filled front arches to match the rear, primered and i can see a lot of work needs doing still.
rear arches need midifying a lot to fit, will do that tonight.
It's going to be another long night :(
at least im back of the project though :)
so anyway heres the pics:
comments and suggestions welcome as always
luke
heyy people
i'm very sorry about the huge delay, and the fact that i keep saying i'll get it doen and i don't.
it has changed a lot a lot!
new skyline arches on, rebuilding front and rear arches to suit.
skylines arches need modifying a tthe rear to fit with the civic lines.
i'll post some pics up in an hour or so if thats ok.
its summer holidays now, and i have been looking at universities etc, and have decided i want to be a car designer, which means i think you'll be seeing a bit more of me on this site now!
cheers
luke
how is everyone?
EDIT- heres pics
Cut away....cut away. Nothing ventured nothing gained! What happened to this section?
Keep us updated on the project Civic. :D
you should double the aches up so it is like the same fender but sticks out further
ripped arches off :D

ahh i say that so casual
any way,
hmmm....i wonder what i can do with this:
maybe :P
i think so!
Looks like we're starting to get some interest back into micro-modding again...
It'd be very worthwhile finishing this project just to show us the final product.
remember me? 8O :D
it's been soo long i can't actually believe it.
how are all you guys doing?
i've actually got some updates on this beast which are mighty improvements :D
no more silly rear arch, totally redesigned.
got my paint sorted so should be all good soon.
i actually have not worked on it in a good 6 months 8O
im really sorry, i've jsut moved on a bit...but im determined to finish this project at least
anyway ill put some updates on it a bit for you all to feast on.
cheers
luke
im sure u could but u just got to b patient and take ur time on it and just dont hurry
thats off the chain i wish i could do stuff like that :D :D but i cant :(
and i have another update from right now, of it all primed, with new arches yet again,
just finished the arches last night.
hum... after priming it though, it looks as if the arches still need some work.
thanks man, well my chassis, isnt upgraded much, just all the normal upgrades...so i really dont see the need for it.. im much more of a body man you see :D
you xould make little air ducts and force the aire to the motor...
I agree with you CIVIC, it does look better. Maybe you could channel the air to the motor area for heat management?
i see your point, but i build my cars for looks and not really a purpose.
i wanted it to look like an air scoop, i dont mind if it doesnt work as one.
it looks much better than before in my opinion.
but why would the you need to scoop air into the rear of the car? If were a real car what purpose would it serve?
orange is much easier sprayed....
but purple would make it look like a real show car, which is what i want...hum this is so hard.
here you go lads.
what iv done, is cut a long whole in the body, then chipped out a section half depth through the rear arches, and placed plastic sheet so that it covers the whole, so basically is an air scoop. looks much better than the old ones i think.
pics when just puttied:

pics when sanded, needs slightly more work:

oh, and my camera is palying up loads, it has an autofocus, so i cant make it focus on a certain thing, and it never focuses on the car! grrr
comments please
I would def go with the orange i think it would look defferent on a civic ive seen too many blue civics lol.
They all sound like nice colors. I definitely say VW orange though. :D
right i think its time to bring this topic back to life.
i havnt worked on the car since the last pictures, so its still the same.
but today, im forgetting about my ped :D because i really want to get this civic the best looking civic ever :P
anyway, ill psot some more pics up later.
all i need to do is smooth, sand the rear wide arches, slice the inside of the arches out.
file the holes in front bumper
file left arch down slightly.
fill door lines...then spray primer.....sand everything, fill if needed, primer...then spray :P
right heres the next thing....
ive got 3 choices of colour.
1... volkswagon brilliant orange
2... ford purple velvet
3... peugeot indigo blue
Clean job with the putty!! You know what would be pretty cool is painting the wheels for the car? Gold, like Prince's Rolls Royce. 8)
thanks man! it fits fine :P ....but all that arch detail is still to be done.
ive got to reshape them, and make them perfect before spraying

yea it doesnt have manual controls, its auto focus, maybe i could try with a different background, or maybe spray it with grey primer?
