"White Trash Beautiful, Trailer Park Queen"
-Everlast
And so begins my xms muscle car entry, a 1966 Buick Wildcat. And before you claim Buick had no muscle, try a 401ci V8 pushing the oh-so underrated 340hp with a 4 speed manual tranny.
Not to mention a body so long you could land a 747 on the deck lid.
as you can guess from the title, this ain't going to be a shiney polished up show queen. Nope. Like half the stuff I've done, I just don't care for shiney paint.... Flat green Camaro. Flat black '56 Nomad. The silver on the S10 was pretty flat too.
So, in keeping with that, and also putting a so far, polar opposite on the trend for building cars, we shall have a Trailer Park Special! I'm talking sun-faded paint, mixed-matched wheels, missing head lights, cracked windshield, and primer sportin' American Muscle... Sorta like my '90 Firebird in some ways... lol.
And so we have it, the start of the 1966 "Trailer Park Special" Buick Wildcat.

And I did mention how large this car is:

:eyecraz:
So, I started on working on the mounts. Thanks to the fact that this model dates back to the older days of models, it's a really simple, beefy model. The whole chassis is molded as one piece, so the body mounts with posts. Thanks to this, I just cut off where the body mounts to the chassis up front, and then glue it to the posts, and I've got a solid front mount right off the bat.

A redneck Muscle Car would not be complete with out some contraption sticking out of the hood. So, here's how it went.
1st, I pulled the blower off a HEMI engine I had laying around:

Then I cut all the intake runners from the Buick's Hillborn Injection intake, so I have a mounting spot for the blower:

Then glued the blower to the base of the hillborn piece, and thus I have the blower rigged up. Once I get some paint on the motor, I'll mess with getting the original blower pully assembly on too:

I would say a blown 401ci Buick motor would be a fun ass ride.
In keeping with details, I can't have a nice windshield now can I?

Pondering if I could toss on the WILDCAT decals for extra cool points, but may leave them off

And this is where it sits at the moment. These arent the final set of wheels and such, just have the car set up for mockup. Gonna need like 5 chassis spacers for this too.

They might have it on Fast Lane. But it would be like the oddball story at the end of the episode.
Mike is now the "Editor at large", he took leave I think last summer to move on in life. Ray Wert is editor-n-chief now. Read his intro review for the Dodge Challenger if you have doubts, the man is a damn fine writer.
Oops. I was wrong. I don't really pay too much attention to the side bar.
Hes really lucky. Getting to drive the new challenger for a week. But I guess being the editor in cheif of an automotive blog helps. I really want to see what the new "drag pack" has in it. I think there was a teaser video for it streetfire. It mostly was an interview with the head builder building the concept cars. I don't know if it was the actual car in the background but it sounded awesome!!

[quote:a21fc9fdc2="texan_idiot25"]I'll keep y'all posted, but the car will be featured on Jalopnik.com soon!!!Jalopnik is pretty much the most badass car news/blog site ever. "Obsessed with the cult of cars". So, that will be awesome!
So that is you I see comment to articles sometimes. You send pics of it over to Mike Spinelli? I almost live on Jalopnik and streetfire for that matter. I'll keep an eye out. You should also watch Fast Lane Daily see if it winds up there. Another thing Mike works on, its a daily car news show.
Yes sir, I haven't been on in a long time since my PC at home is busted, but I'm on often when I can. Whats your name on there?
E-mailed it to Murilee, his old Impala model he posted last year is what for the most part got me started on this.. Spinelli doesn't post too often anymore on Jalopnik, only for special occasions pretty much. But given these blogs do trade off from one another, maybe they'll post it. I don't visit fast lane enough, so I don't know if this is up their ally like it is for Jalopnik

There was a mid 70's mustang around back in HS. You know, way back. One of those 4 cyl models. Guy driving it thought he was so hot in that car. It had 3 fancy shiny chrome rims, and one like your pickup has.
Must have been a classy fellow. Was his hair business up front, party in the back (sorta like the El Camino)?

Dit wuld realy be purdy if them there rims didn't match. :)You always see them with 3 chrome and one rusted out rim that was used as a spare tire.
It does have one brand new rim (Front, Left), while stuck with the other 3 dirty, oily rims, lol.
I shouldn't laugh too much, though. My Chevy is in that state at the moment. The spare tire in the bed is one of it's original rims. Stuck it on since one tire is dryrotted and goes flat weekly. Not only is it skinnier then the other 3 tires, it's shorter too. And a lot rustier.

There ya go. Let more rednecking begin
If you do a car, go for the redneck rollercoaster
Dude, if anyone can hunt down an old 80s Cavalier model, totally. Dave's farm FTW.
BTW, I noticed what movie you had the chassis resting on, very nice choice.
I saw this done one other time. This was a standard model kit like what Texan started with. Made it look like a trashed car. It won first place out of 100 entries at a county fair.I have to say, this one looks pretty damn good. Wish I could see the detail in person. Looks as good or better than the one other I saw.
I've seen this twice before with models, one guy on the GMinsidernews forum did a 54 Chevy truck, and I got the idea to try that on xmods. When the XMS comp came, I did it.
The pics don't do this piece of junk justice, lol.
And yes I'll resize them this weekend. I'm on my parent's PC while mine is down and their resolution is off, so I can't tell what does and doesn't break tables (and the car is just that gosh-darn purty)
That looks excellent! But seriously, the hood ornament? Those are always the first to go.
Hood ornaments rule.
Thanks guys on all the complements, this was a way cool car to do. :P

Texan, some of those pics are breaking the tables. Could you possibly fix those? :)

You watch his vids? Amazing how you can do so well when you start from garbage picking.

I bet dave would love to see a scale model of that
Good job, Tex. Looks great. I think you might need to do another redneck car, maybe a truck.
If you do a car, go for the redneck rollercoaster
Wow, it's amazing! Your attention to detail is remarkable.
Thanks! and welcome to xmw lol.
HA! Trash bag windows!Very nice dude.
Nice man! It looks like a perfect piece of crap Laughing !missing some lugnuts maybe?

DONE!!!

Photos were shot on my porch, next to a brick wall and flower pot. Sets up the theme well, and the flower pot sorta reminds me of the corrugated steel siding used on low-buck buildings. (trailer homes)

Thanks Mongo :P
Mo' pics. Getting onto 'weathering' the stuff

Also 'weathered' Both bumpers and put a dent in the front one, and dirtied up the car some. Just some absolutely ****ty pics ATM, still working on the car and don't feel like piecing it together to a mock-up shot.

Ignore any texture that looks off in the pics, it's just the paint to make it look dirty...
Making a car look beat up is becoming more involved then making one look good... lol
edit:::: Nicer pics:

One "new" wheel atleast

Ah, duct tape. Mans best friend; screw the dog.
Looking good. Love the rear quarter-panel. ;)
Are you going to "duck tape" one of the body panels or corners too? In true redneck fashion?
Tex you a Moderator? Lol. Duck Tape. I think I like the car better if you did it without dents and all those marks and scratches and... i like it new. :?
I'm a mod? It now says "micro-wunderkind" now  Didn't notice that until you said it..
Towerhobbies has the kit for 12 bucks, have at it. I wanted to do a project that's different and detailed in it's own way. There's countless model conversions painted red. How many are graced with duct tape and dents?

Not done yet lol... Notice the front bumper and rear end are supported by wheels, coins, and motor cans.
I did manage to fuck up the bullet hole. So, like a true redneck, duck tape to the rescue:

Smexy baby :D Red. How you did the Black Marks? Are the dents originally in the Model?

Pics of the progress from start to what I've got so far.

^Notice the shiney^

^Some one clipped the Buick's long rear end at some point it it's 40+ year existance.

^Notice the bullet hole in the trunk. Also, the roof, trunk, and the sides of the car, along the body line, are faded so far. Painted heavy on top, and sanding with 400 grit paper.

Red.
Ironically the same red I sprayed on the firebird to cover it's primered area after I got it.

So, what sun bleached color is it going to mainly be?
That is the most ironic car build yet. Most SANE people make nice looking show cars and racers, but not Texan! No, he has to make a "Trailer Park Special" complete with cracked windows. This is going to be epic...
 Well I was told that I was special when I was younger... Could explain every thing.
Shoulda gone with the Camaro
Plus this car is a TANK!

No, he had the salad bowl style going on.
Looked like he put one on his head and cut around the rim.
