Slammed F-150 & Lifted Titan

I have some difficult paintjobs planned for two trucks, the Titan and F-150.

I started by slamming the F-150 on a car chassis. It's mounted with a custom front clip and a custom rear mounting system.

Here's the rear mounting system.

I don't have any pics of the Titan at the moment, it's just a stock body on a lifted chassis, so nothing special yet.

I still need to get paint, so it will be a while before completion.

Ah, didn't see the ones on the sides. I only saw them on the front and rear bumpers.

See them now?

No work on Titan yet.

Ok, I see the ghosts on the bottom half of the red flames. I think it would've been better if the entire flame section was a dark grey, to make the whole section ghosted, rather than a part of the flames.

I think I see them. It took me a while to see them, but I guess that's what it's supposed to do.
It looks great.

Have you done anything on the Titan yet?

Re: Slammed F-150 & Lifted Titan

Yeah, I seriously don't see the ghosting. All I see is a flame job on the bottom half of the body. On the sides it looks like the black should be the flames, but on the rear, the red ones look like the primary flames.

So no ghosting.

Did you notice the lower flames instead of focusing on the black flames?

Re: Slammed F-150 & Lifted Titan

How are those "ghost flames" though? I always thought that "ghosting" a detail into a car was making the design a few shades lighter or darker than the car color, thereby making them "ghosts" on the paint.

Finished up! Overall, I am satisfied with it. :D

Here are some pics to show some of the ghost flames. They are on the front and rear bumpers and the side.

Thanks for looking!

Re: Slammed F-150 & Lifted Titan

Sorry for the blurry pictures. I'll take better ones when it's all finished up.

On the other hand, the paint came out awesome. It's going to be sick with some polish and finishing details.

Clear and final assembly tomorrow. :)

Double post, sorry...

Well, I haven't been able to finish the F-150 yet, I need to let the paint dry before finishing the two-tone.

I was able to work on the bedcover:

That should give a pretty good idea of the final truck. :D

Flames are popular nowadays, looks great

Re: Slammed F-150 & Lifted Titan

I tested out the colors I'll be using. The pic throws the colors off a little, but it's good enough.

The lines and flames were testing out new Tamiya masking tape.

I think I'm going for silver base for both the trucks. It gives more 'pop' to the color, IMO.

Don't worry about the ghost designs in the paint, it was just testing. ;)

Nice, clean extension. I like the body mounts, did you just make the front one out of styrene?
