If youre into balls-out speed. then 5th Cell is well worth it!! I dont know about other people's 5th Cel Setup, but im using 6.25 volts from Sanyo Nicads(1.25v each) along with my Ballbearing Redline Series Real Handwound Motor. The only problem i have is wearing out the short axle that goes in between the diff. Its all good though if you drive conservatively and punch it only when, while youre on the go. Another downside is you cannot use the body light kit and the run time is a bit shorter. Another thing I do is drive my car under the low throttle trim switch to avoid sudden burnouts in wearing out my short axle.. But, you can make up for it by using nimh's, but then you'll suffer in torque and top end.. For those who try the 5th Cell Innovation, you have to make sure you Krazy Glue the tires.. All and all, its well worth it and my customers have demonstrated living testimonial proof to back it up..
IF you are wearing out the axle why dont you put the bearings on and lube them up like crazy.
