Recently my range has been really bad... extremely bad (10Ft at most). after the r20 overide I decided to conclude that it was the "range resistors". I started to look around fro range repair kits and I was close to ordering one. Yet the shipping cost would be 15$ for resistors! I searched for the resistors needed (0.85 Ohms and 1500 Ohms) and found nothing available. So I experimented and used a 1600 ohm to replace the burnt 1.5K. IT WORKED! It didnt increase the distance (The r20 overide did that job) but it fixed the distance shortage problem.
Can anyone confirm if resistors would work ?...i seriously can't get inductors where i am
sry, i kno its an old topic, but what do i need 2 replace??? Can som1 show me a pic?
~SupraKid~
thoses frie when eleticity get to your itenda
ebay/paypal doesn't accept credit cards from Trinidad :(
check on ebay for it.
Sorry to bring back this old topic, but did this guy swap inductors for resistors ?
I can't seem to find and inductors in electronic stores where i live, so i wanted to know if resistors would work, and what values ?
Either I am dyslexic, or I saw those letters in a different order.
I said
I probably KFC'd my board.....
Profanity??
Spelling Bad??
KFC = Kentucky Fried Chicken...
I probably Kentucky FrieD my board.....
Donnow, but here thats no profanity, thats just joking and using your
imagination a little bit....
Sry.
Well indeed if you only replace the 1.5k for a 1.6k inductor!,
It (still) works....
For me that is:
Range before replacement - 2 mtrs.
Range after replacement - 6 mtrs.
At this point i should have probably used the litle adjuster on the recieverboard to fine tune it, and expand the range..
Instead i replaced the other inductor (0.85 Ohm) as well...
And nothing happend...
I put back the working setup (the old org. 0.85 Ohm and the new 1.5k)
And... nothing happend.
Well, i think i probably ruined my recieverboard now, or at least the conductors again...
I have ordered a repairkit from atomic,
lets see if this is the magic i need...
MOD EDIT: Removed profanity even if you could not spell it right. Please read the forum rules. Profanity, in any form, is not allowed.
it worked... but only replace the 1500 ohm...
so a 1600 will work for fried range? radioshack has those, thats what i need for my hummer.
You sure you used Transistors??
Cause the things on your reciever are inductors !!
A transistor of 1.5k or 0.85Ohm simply wont fry
when applying 9 volts to it... :?
A Inductor will...
I've been 2 my electronic store just yet, and got 2 transisitors that have
a little diffirent value, 1.5k is a bit bigger, and the 0.85Ohm a little smaller
I think this should work, ill let you know when im finished!!
I just replaced the 1500 Ohm riesistor... It is a bigger then the stock resistors so you have to bend it back a bit. I did not replace the fried 0.85 due to its unavailability. It seems to work fine
You say,
you replaced the 0.85 Ohms and the 1500 Ohms resistors,
(those are the green ones on the recieverboard i guess)
did you replace them both?
Or did you just replace the 1500Ohms for a 1600Ohms?
and left the fried 0.85 on the board?
And if i get you right this does the same as a Range repair kit?!
Please explain
Having the same problem here..
Thanx in advance!!
