I have read up on a few things about XMODS since being introduced to it about 3 weeks ago. One of the things that I read about was that the nylon wheel lug nuts crack, split, and fall apart. I have had this happen to me. So I started looking around where they sold metal lug nuts. Unfortunately, the local RC/Hobby shop did not carry ones that would fit on the XMODS.
So, I tried ACE hardware store.
There I found some Zinc Lug Nuts for $.05 (5 cents) a piece. They are the size 2-56mm nut.
The only downside to these is that they are thinner than the nuts that the XMODs have. As a result, where it screws into sticks out a little. Unless you're rough (doing crashes and such) with your car/truck, these should provide better reliability than the stock Nylon wheel nuts. That and you dont have to wait for wheel nuts to be shipped to you ;)
Hope this helps.
I cant find any metal lug nuts to fit my xmod. I tryed Ace and all other hardware stores in my area.
I was thinking of doin' the same thing. Nice to see someone has already done this, and it works. SWEEETT
Good idea ill keep that in mind
yea i work at aco hardware and i got some nuts for my xmod a while back. they look great and ive never had problems with them falling off. i can even use the stock lug wrench!
I'm probably going to keep the screw as it is ;)
I pretty much just posted this to help other noobs out :D

You can find a cheap metal replacement at RS...they are 2/56 nuts in the computer hardware section. They work in a pinch but aren't the exact thread you need. A 2mm threaded nut is the best choice but eBay or online stores are likely the only place to find those. Wink

Better yet, get 2mm locking nuts.
The 2/56 ones at Radio Shack do not have the same thread spacing and may come off.

also, notice that I put the word CHEAP ;)
5 cents a piece :)
the ones from ACE Hardware is a pretty good fit. I just used a super light coat of blue loctite on mine to keep it in place (just in case)...no, they are not loose fitting to begin with ;)

gud idea, you can also consider painting them, the thinner lug nuts give the wheels a cleanner and more realistic look. You can try to cut off the protruding screw (this will void the xmod's warranty and may inhibit regular lug nuts from attaching). Its your call.
hey, that's a great idea...I don't know if anyone's heard or used that before! :P
I'd suggest using the search feature...there's probably about 17000 threads of the same concept. :?
