Well there are lots of people asking which is better.....well here are your long awaited awnsers.

GEN 1's

If you are planning to drag race pick the GEN 1's. They got a narrower turning path than the EVO line. You can also fit 180 size motors for incredible torque and performance. The GEN 1's have better suspension travel than the EVOs do and the car's motor dosen't require spacers for the motors. The GEN 1's can also be used for races with tight turns with a tight turn upgrade resistors. Gen 1's are EXTINCT in America. :O

THE EVO's:

The Evo is an good all around R//C. Good for races with turns and tight corners. The EVOs turning is much better than the STOCK GEN 1's and so is the braking. EVOs are the drifting monsters. They also include 2 kinds of Logic Lights unlike the GEN 1's which only include 1. Also the Evo have wheel wobble but this tut should solve your problem but will cause lots of friction. Another alternative is to buy wide track bearings. Also the EVO line features trucks and cars. Evo's Knuckels are known to break when going off road or just crashing into walls. Best to get Aluminum Parts for your EVO or you will be throwing your $$ to buy spare replacement parts. UPDATE! Transformers Evo Chassis got the Wheel Wobble Problem Fixed!

[The Tut]http://xmodworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=16644

Hope this helps you decide which car to buy. NOTE: the GEN 1's aren't availible at RadioShack. You can either buy them off someone or buy them online or eBay. RS don't have the GEN 1's anymore but if you see one snatch it quick. GEN 1's are EXTINCT in USA. Canada stopped selling them a year ago.

Re: GEN 1's or EVOs Updated 6/23/08

I know how to fix the wheel wobble on the hummer wheels. The gen 1 spacers are the same size for the inside of the wheel. Sand it down to fit. There is a tut on page 4-7 about hole punched spacers too. I got no wheel wobble now. Gen 1's are rare now, but everyone knows they are better.

Try eBay, or AtomicMods
I don't think AtomicMods has much for the Gen 1's anymore though

Re: GEN 1's or EVOs Updated 6/23/08

I like gen1s better than evos for many reasons that I won't explain :P
But they are a bit of a pain for a noobie solderer, like me. All packed into such a smaller spot. I think...I've never had a good look at an evo to make sure.

Re: GEN 1's or EVOs Updated 6/23/08

2 and a half years already? No way... :)

To answer the earlier question... Evo is probably better, but only with liberal suspension modifications and many hours of fine-tuning.

gen 1s

Gen 1 xmods may be rare in the usa but here in england the evo's are still rarer, even though they have been around for nearly 2 and a half year (correct me if im wrong on that one)

Re: GEN 1's or EVOs Updated 6/23/08

I just found a Hummer H1 at a local store today. I must say that i am impressed at the power and hadling of the Evo truck right out of the box. I havent had a chance to race it, but I think even stock the Hummer might give some of my buddies modded gen1's a hard time.

Bump for false information in this thread...

I hate it when noobs give false info. Give your thread a good read through. It sucks in Spelling, Grammer, and the Information is just wrong.

Now, the EvoT has maybe 8x worse Turning Radius than a Gen1. It's not an 8x smaller cirlce. Maybe it might be a foot or two smaller, but it's not alot.

For RWD, the Evo may be the better chassis, with a full-transverse drivetrain setup. However, I am a Gen 1 fan because of the open chassis layout, which allows for all sorts of cool mods. The Evo chassis requires some serious hacking if you want new electronics, servo, batteries, etc...

Dude. Which is which? A Narrow turning radius is better in my books, so which of the two cars has the narrower radius?

Re: GEN 1's or EVOs Updated 6/23/08

do a 3.3 resistor turning mod on your gen1 and youll have a far superior car than the evo.

i say this because within 2 minutes of driving my evo the knuckle broke for absolutely no reason, and the cheap replacement that came in the pack cracked while screwing it on.

If people are too lazy to look in the FAQ, then what makes you think they'll look here?
