now tell me, who else has an Escalade exhaust tip on a go cart?

hahahaha, a NOS energy drink, yes!

notice the 4.6 litre sticker from a Cadi, i believe from a north star v8. i gotta mazda speed 6 one lying arouund too lol

in the 8 years ive had it, its gone thru 1 engine, 3 clutches(getta solid centrifical clutch, no keyway=never breaking), two new rear tires, god knows how much gas, 2 throtle cables, and only one crash, and a near flip.

3.5 hp, possibly getting another 5 or 10 hp engine from a friend, 40mph with its short gearing, handles like a pro, its a lil over 17 years old.

and burn outs that last over 20 feet

video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2JMljJyElU thats it 1st starting with this new engine, burnouts and the first run with that new engine. whoohoho i was glad to get that ingition fixed, i was dam worried when i didnt have any spark thursday hahaha

Re: coolest go cart ever [general go-cart discussion]

Yup, but mind you acceleration is gonna be slower. Think of it like a bike, when you shift gears. To get the highest gear, you go the biggest in front (engine) and smallest the the rear (wheels), and visa-versa for torque. ;)

ooo ok. i thought it was mroe teeth more speed. lol nvm. so they make a like a 54 tooth sprocket. is that what im looking for?

Re: coolest go cart ever [general go-cart discussion]

So right now its a 5:1 reduction, Thats what I had on mine I believe (its in here, i know).

Then the other gear set is 6:1. So the larger gear to is going do slow you down. You want either a larger clutch gear, or smaller drive gear if your looking for speed.

And a normal B&S engine is limited at 6000 rpm I think, maybe 7000.

ok i finally got them

clutch is a 12 tooth. my sprocket now is like a 60 i think but im getting a 72 tooth one. you can just average or whatever u were gonna do. with the 12/72

Well Its a freshly rebuilt by me ten horse briggs and stratton with the head milled forty over, K & N air filter, synthetic oil, and straight pipe basically ran on premium gasoline with octane booster governed at 5300 rpm.

Re: coolest go cart ever [general go-cart discussion]

How many HP does your engine run. Seriously, I never noticed any difference in performance. And my go cart, if theres any extra oooomph, its noticable. Even differences in gasoline are highely noticable. Regular, the engine runs a bit smoother, but accelerates slow. Premium gas, the engine is a bit more throaty, and hauls.

Mufflers, I just got a cooler sound. And it shot fire.... Ill have to attempt to start it sometime. It hasnt run in months, so its gonna be a biyatch to me. Then again, this engine I put in is peppy, even after sitting dormant for 5 years, an oil change, carb cleaner spray, and a full tank of gas, and it started in 5 pulls.

Re: coolest go cart ever [general go-cart discussion]

:D Hey Tex, you remember how you said that muffler would be cop prone? Well I managed to score a free muffler for my engine thats brand new, so i can just unscrew my gutted muffler with the tip on it and screw this one in when Im not racing I figure with the lesser back pressure I have whilst racing the more up top rpm power gain it will give me cause Ill be flogging the throttle all the time racing circle track.. anyways I fired the engine up with the gutted muffler and 3 1/2 inch tip and it sounds DEEP not really farty like I expected Ill get a sound clip sometime...

no I have a bar welded between the wheels where my REMOVABLE axle goes in. If I can, later, I'll get you a pic. I need to install my new brakes anyway.

Thats the exact frame design mine is. Theres a few differences. But about exactly the same.

Though your seat sides are higher too, and your steering wheel is upsidedown. You will have a buttload more leg room if you mount it 180* around.

But its light, simple, and handles good eh? :)

The seat is ok. I just have to have that pad there to keep my back from hurting. But the bottom isnt bad. The seat kinda bows in. Yea they are the same. what make is your go cart? I cant seem to find anything about mine. And the steering wheel? I though thats how it went? lol w/e ill try it. It handles like you wouldnt believe. Can you cut doughnuts on a dime? I sure can and i'll have a vid tomorrow of it.

I got my frame done, and two braces put in, as well as scoring some steering off of like 4 riding lawnmowers, and getting an axle and steering wheel, and I got some free aluminum diamond plate treadbrite for free and i got my exhaust tip cut down to size and welded to my bored out used to be muffler.. and i gotta finda gas tank, tires, and rims and im goin to the harware store wednesday to get some pillowblock bearings, the store here only had cast iron, not hardly as strong as steel! i might just beat you to get done!

Butane, that has some funny properties, some tour-trams run off that. Like at NASA here in houston. I havent heard of it being used as a power adder though. Interesting..

Re: coolest go cart ever [general go-cart discussion]

With in a week or two. You better actualy know about suspension geometry before you attemp any sort of live rear axle to any use. Unless your going solid like mine. The mufflers, if you have an engine like mine, that does nothing for the performance. The stock B&S ones flow quite well, your just gonna be louder and more cop prone.

Thats the NASCAR spirit! Lol, the axle is something that can be replaces yes, its the engine im most worried about. You see the oil puddle. And like I said, it didnt just stall, it down right stoped as soon as the axle broke, but the engine isnt seized, it can still be cranked by the pull start, but i dunno its condition.

I got bored and made a video memorial thingy, its uploading.

Re: coolest go cart ever [general go-cart discussion]

Im gonna use a solid steel tube this time. just a matter of getting it, threading it, and welding it. and that wont be anytime soon.

It stoped leaking thankfully, might have been some oil that creeped into the axle? I have no idea, but I havent tried the engine.

not really, the engine block might be cracked too, see the oil? and its still leakin in my garage...

to fix it, which i dunno if i will, i need to cut the old axle off, buy some solid steel bar stock, thread the ends, weld it (cant weld, to my dads auto shop...) and hope this one lasts.

what happened was i was just turning around on this one section of new side walk, smooth, dirty, so its fun to go all rally style on. at 1st the chain poped off, which was very odd. my guess is that, that was when the axle cracked. there was slack in the chain, more than normal. so i got it back on, got back on the throttle, it rolled about 3 feet, and then that happened. i felt the rear drop and the engine stoped immediatly. didnt stall, it stoped. the tire and chain jammed up the clutch, and that forcefuly killed the motor. i walked home 7 miles (my cell was dead) and drove it home in our GMC after I GOT PERMISSION  . rust wasnt the cause, its a near 20 year old frame, and its seen just about every kind of road, and terrain.

im still thankful it happened when it did, 30 seconds later i would have been hauling ass on a 3 1/2 foot wide side walk at 35mph. and that would have sent me off the path way, and 7 inched down into the dirt. it would have not been good for me.

Well Phill-O

thats why i love my gocart over the full suspension ones, its small, low, no seat belts or roll cage, its your skill that defines your safety
