So I just got a tc4. its a 1/10 scale electric car and I want to buy a new battery for it. what I dont understand is all the different mah numbers and what they mean. what is the difference in 3300 mah and 1300 mah??? and would it break something if I wired 2 battery packs together to run at the same time???
[quote:31c33e87e2="Donziikid"]That's not exactly the battery that I've seen here in the States, but I'm sure it's about the same thing, just re-badged.I've heard these are alright: (3300mAh, so I was correct. :P But that's here in the States.)
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2147160&cp=2032056...I'm trying to locate the Red colored ones, but am not having any luck. Must be discontinued...Those were great batteries for the price.
Edit:
From what I'm remembering, the best ones were the ones wrapped in clear packaging (like the ones in the link) and had red, purple, or green cells. Keep in mind, these are still going to be the "lower end", "nonmatched" cells that you would find somewhere else, so they are going to be cheaper and no where near the performance of those other GP/IBs. But those get in the $60-90+ range. I've seen matched IBs go for $120 on Ebay, but that's Ebay.
If they aren't these don't buy um

where do i get one them???
You can still buy them, they just won't be as good as the ones you have provided a picture of.Great batteries, how long have you had them, especially with 8packs? I wish I could find a discharge chart for them, so I could compare to others...

Well here in Mexico they were about $40 with charger.
Heres a pic:

Is it?
Oh, so they were 3000mAh as well? My mistake, I recall seeing 3300, not 3000.
And at least someone here was smart enough to purchase them, weren't they like $30 at the time? I think the new ones are even $20 depending on the sales.
[quote:12d5a92f31="CowboySiR03"]Check your RS...I vaguely recall seeing GP 3000mAh packs at RS in the past. at the time, they were dirt cheap so you might get lucky.
To continue with what Cowboy said;
If you are lucky you will be able to find some of those batteries, but if you find the 3300mAh ones wrapped in green, you will be golden. Those were some spectacular cells, I must say. The ones wrapped in red I hear aren't all that bad, but the greens were better.
I had some that were wrapped in black and with a green sticker, with RS name, they were 3000mAh, and havent failed to me. I actually use them in the savage Roto-start.
High mAH batteries last long but will take longer to charge. Low mAH batts have short runtime and not much energy capicity. Long charging=long runs Short charging= short runs
That also depends on what Amperage you charge at. I can charge my 1600mAh batteries at 0.2amps and it'll take near three hours. Or I could charge my 3600mAh batteries at 2.0amps and it'll take around an hour and a half.
The higher amperage you charge at, the more "boost" your going to receive from your batteries, but also the shorter run time you're going to receive. The lower amperage you charge at will make it so you have very little power, but a lot of run time.
I always charge at 2-4amps. Anything under 2amps is really underpowered.

i got a sanyo pack it is 1300mah is that any good for runnin my car or should i upgrade???
Any battery that will make a car run, in my opinion, is a good battery pack. The more power the battery pack has, the better the battery pack is; in my opinion.
Do you need to upgrade? Not necessarily. Will you want to upgrade in the future? I can almost bet on it. Just keep in mind, batteries are not cheap. Make the correct decision the first time, and you won't be disappointed. ;)

Thats because like I said venom cells aren't quality
And they're a rip off.
[quote:25d42f6955="Evotcrawler"]Look for quality packs that have cells like GP, IB, EP. They cost more but are worth it.
Not always true. IB cells off of Tower are $42. Thats also the SMC IB4200. My Venoms that I received for Christmas are $56 for 3600. And they're not the best things in the world, I'll admit that.

Yeah series would make 2 six cell packs would be 14.4 volts when running 2 six cell packs in parallel it would be 7.2 volts and double the run time.
My personal advice to you is don't buy cheap packs like venom.
Look for quality packs that have cells like GP, IB, EP. They cost more but are worth it.
Parallel doubles length of time a source can run off of the battery.
Series doubles the amount of power running to the source.
With lights, but you get the concept: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/g_knott/elect27.htm
Say the motor is the light, the more voltage you give the motor the faster it will go. The more batteries you hook up to it in parallel the longer the motor will run for.
Didn't they teach you about parallel and series circuits in like...Third Grade? That's when I learned about it..
wats the dif. in parallel and series???

The different mAh ratings stand for the amount of power a battery can "hold." A battery with a higher mAh rating will hold a charge longer, and will also discharge with more "umph (power)." Hence, making it your TC4 run longer, and faster.
If you wire the batteries in Parellel, you could do it without breaking something unintentionally. I have yet to see why you would though, because that would add a lot of unnecessary weight and there would be no performance gain (except for a longer run time, it wouldn't be any faster.)
Wiring the batteries together in Series would double the voltage, thus burning out your ESC.
Darn for the price of those cells I'll some 4500 mah elite cells
Spendy, but look at that mAh and a 30A discharge rate. :D

And if you are serious about making a competition battery pack. Matched cells.
http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3144
They also have 4200mAh cells that are much cheaper.
If they aren't these don't buy um
