Seeing as there is a small number of people posting, I thought I would make an attempt at getting a discussion going about something I find interesting...
Home audio/video.
My set up is Cerwin Vega E-315's hook up to a Sony STR-DE675, and as of current I am using a PS2 as a CD player... Soon I plan to pick up a Sony SCD-CE595 and if I can find one for a reasonable price, a Marantz 2238, doubt it will ever happen though.

Yup, with 15" woofers, I am pretty sure my neighbors hate me!
I also have some Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble IIIs and IVs with a passive woofer (5.1 kit) and in our living room a Sony STR-DE435 with a Mitsubishi M-CD500 (CD Player) hooked up to some Cambridge Soundworks Model Six speakers.
...gatta love Henry Kloss!
So, any of you guys crazy about video or sound?
Good 5.1 set up, what kind of TV is it hooked up to if you don't mind me asking?
Downhome it's currently hooked up to a ~1985 Mitsubishi 45" CRT.
Up north the system will be hooked up to a 2007 Sony Bravia 52" HD LCD. It's a 16:9 full HD 1080p. We've hooked it up already and played GTA IV on it... and oh.. my.. gawd..

Our down-state system in the living room:
Receiver (1): Pioneer VSX-1014TX
Center Speaker (1): PolkAudio CSi A6
Surround Speakers (4): PolkAudio RTi A3
Subwoofer (1): PolkAudio DSW Pro 600
We plan on duplicating the system for our house up north except we're going to upgrade the receiver to a VSX-94TXH or VSX-92TXH and add a few more speakers since it's a much larger room. This way we'll be able to network all the receivers between the garage, living room and basement wet bar if we go with the VSX-94TXH.

They are CD's that look like records, and they come from Verbatim which, in my opinion, makes some of the best blank media money can buy.

I honestly have never seen these before. Very tempted to buy just for the look on peoples faces when I stick a record in to my PS2; and it plays.
those were just your regular RCA's. nothing special to them.
I've got one of the cheap ones :(
I wouldn't sell it anyway. Still very useful. FF7 plays better in it than in my PS2. Well, not the movies but the game itself.
Interesting, I hadn't seen that before. Then again, I haven't touched a PS1 in years and never really had one either.
What would they be labeled as? RCA Out, or were they called something different?

Later models only had the A/V Multi-Out and Serial I/O, and some had the Parallel I/O which, as far as I know, you could only make use with a Gameshark, which I did.
The argument was that Sony used "high quality" RCA outs or something to that effect.
It seems like the same argument that Monster Cables uses to justify their overpriced, under performing cables.
Either way, I am very skeptical, but would love to test.

I had two. The first one was an original like the article says, but that died so my brother (I was maybe 6 or 7 at the time) sold it to a local game shop and bought a new one, which doesn't have the RCA outs on the back, and... I also tried a color changing paint job on it; came out awful...
I actually want to buy an old PS1 again and try it out, they still only sell for like $30... it's almost cheaper than not doing it at all!
Hey, I've still got my PS1 hooked up
Even better, it still works.
I'm not sure if that's what would fix it. The right speaker doesn't always sound the way it should when it's set for stereo. It's kinda like static, except it's quieter and I can usually fix it by turning up the volume. When I do this, the left watt gauge(or whatever it's called) is usually close to max while the right has barely gone up. Then it sort of pops and is back to the way it should be.
Hmmm.
I'm stumped, cleaning the pots could fix that, but, if you want to try to get it fixed, I would check out some forums like audiokarma.org or hometheaterforum.com, really any audio related forum should have some die-hard audiophiles that can help you get that thing back to new.
Also, ever read this? http://www.switched.com/2007/06/05/playstation-is-a-6-000-cd-player/
I'm very doubtful, but I remember my PS1 being pretty good for playing music with.

It is. It suits my needs very well. I'm a little suprised it works so well especially after how it was stored when I found it.
It does mess up occasionally, but thats probably because it's dusty or the speakers are dirty.
You may need to clean the potentiometers. It's an easy process, all you need is some contact cleaner like DeoxIT, and a bit of time.
I would Google around to found the exact process for the Pioneer though.

I also use my ps2 as a cd player, but your stereo is much better than mine.
Audiosource LS-ONE speakers hooked to a Pioneer SX-780. Made in the late 70's
Had to get a picture from Google, my camera's dead.
The Pioneer SX-780 is actually very good. Nothing like a well built receiver from the '70's.

Texan, they are silver on the bottom. I bought a 50 pack a week ago. lol. Thought I posted that... my mistake.
You can't be that excuse to get those speakers from storage?
"Pops, I want to listen to music, properly, thank you!"
The Pioneer SX-727 looks awesome. A lot like the Marantz I dream about, they are also really easy to rebuild, because the parts are readily available and cheap, except for tubes.
Just dug out another one, going to try and get it working for our basement. It's a Pioneer SX-727. Made in 1972.
My dad has that for the old monster-sized pioneer speakers we had up in our home in dallas. Their in storage, waiting for a good excuse to come out.

The band called Graveyard BBQ used them on their 1st cd. The disk is all black and looks very cool in hand. Though some CD players don't tend to like the black disk, but this is with some old ones.
