First off let me start with a bit of back story....

Last week I had never even heard of xmods. I went to a local RS to get my wife a RC car for christmas and was subsequently introduced to xmods. Obviously I liked what I saw and purchased one for my wife. The manager then told me to "step over here and I'll make you an offer you can't refuse." He then sold me a returned lancer kit, a beat up/broken lancer floor model, and a hummer kit in pieces all for $30. I have already pieced together one working lancer, so in my opinion I'm already WAY ahead on this deal.

Now here are my problems that hopefully you guys can help me diagnose, or at least point me in the proper direction.

The returned lancer is complete but seems to have a problem receiving input from the control. It'll work, but only in spurts for about 1/2 to 3 seconds. I was standing approximately 4 feet away from it at the time. Being so new to xmods I really don't know quite where to start with this problem.

The hummer was in pieces with the front end completely removed from the rear, with wires dangling. I re-soldered the wires back to the servo and the ESC (I'm guessing on this one) wires (white,orange,black) back onto the mainboard, using one of the lancers as a reference. The servo has power but when it is turned on it will "twitch" but in an extremely exagerated way. For instance, if the wheels are turned even slightly right of center, it'll twitch to the lock position and the same for left. This is with the controller being off. When I turn the controller on and try to control it the steering in non-responsive, but forward/reverse works.

Sorry about the long winded first post, but more information makes diagnosis much easier.
