evo awd help!!!

I have a evo truck, with the blue ford body on it. I bought it and the AWD upgrade, bearings and a bunch of other stuff.

I took the whole truck apart (it is my first evo chassis) to get the feel of the changes, and started modding it.

I followed all of the AWD directions right, put all of the bearings in the right spots, but the truck isn't running right. The I used the longest shaft, but it doesn't connect to both pinions good, or even at all sometimes.

At times the AWD works a little bit, then I hear a grinding noise and the wheels lock up.

I have no idea wtf is going on.

Any help?

Re: evo awd help!!!

if your positive you have the truck 4wd, and not the car awd. your positive your using the longest drive shaft possible, and your postive its put together right, there is one more trick you can try.

in the front end, on the drive shaft, between the bearing and the pinion gear, and a piece of carboard like off a cerial box, or a note card, and cut your self out a little spacer that looks like a really thin bearing. Put that between the bearing and the pinion gear. that will normally push the gear tighter and solve that issue.

Did you put the front together first like in the instructions? That actually made a difference when I put mine together. When I got the 4WD upgrade, I put the rear together first and I had the same problem as you.

Re: evo awd help!!!

Ehh, still don't know what the problem is.

But yeah, I bought the right AWD.

I took it out earlier, RWD FTW!!! Lol

Oh well, the truck is just going to be for looks mostly anyways.

I'm ready for the new xmods to come out. I've got money set aside for a new kit and upgrades already.

Did you buy the car AWD? The one you need is the one that says "TRUCKING" or something to that effect on the front. I also think the case is orange or yellow.

Re: evo awd help!!!

I didn't, but I have some.

I don't think that's the issue though. Its like the driveshaft isn't connecting to the front and rear gears. The rear wheels spin, but the front don't. Then when I reverse, it jitters and grinds, then backs up a little bit.

Did you put grease on all the gears? I think I had this problem when I put the AWD in my F-150 and all I did to solve it was to put some gear grease that came with the Gen 1 Awd upgrade on the whole drivetrain and it worked much better.
