Tis this season to make crawlers!

Here's mine. Tamiya 4 Runner Body, with many small mods to the chassis. HS-55 Servo, locked diffs, AWD, Super Swampers with Slammed Rims.

My next project is more complex. I plan to add a double two-link suspension to the battery holder/electronics package of an Xmod. Use Super Slicks Monster Truck Axles (ssmt) and some custom shocks. Add a Scorpion 4x4 Body to the list, made from aluminum tubing. Like this:

Anywho, to the pics!

The body isn't done yet. I need to add the white roof.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=bQiIB767seQ

I have one more video, it's a bit more 'XTreme.'

Enjoy! Any comments welcome...Also, a tutorial for a crawler is on the way...Just need to finish it up!

:P

Re: The XCrawler

I used this: http://xmodworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=16644

And put small washers between wheels and knuckles, and hardly no wobble at all.

And, alloy diffs, CF driveshafts - I wouldn't spend your money on that. If you want something useful, get alloy dogbones. :)

Re: The XCrawler

this truck doesnt seem 2 hav much wobble. i dunno y, all my other ones r way worse. wat about the alloy diffs. and other drivetrain pieces? thatd cost a small fortune to replace them.

Re: The XCrawler

Looks good. Can you please so me a picture of how you mounted the body in the rear. I bought a 4 runner and painted it red then I came on and remembered you already did one and painted it red. I wish I didn't buy a model someone already did but I can't return it lol.

Re: The XCrawler

One strip of aluminum, drilled holes in it, JB Welded another cutout for the part that you put under your truck, and JB Welded the handle which was part of a coat hanger.

Then painted.

Long story...

The guy that I bought the Subaru from had some washers between the wheels and knuckles...

So, I tried in on the crawler.

And it worked!

Well, I guess it wasn't that long of a story.

Today I fabbed up a Hi-Lift jack. Turned out well. Pics soon!

Re: The XCrawler

No suspension rubbing. I have little washers to push the wheels ou a little and reduce the slop.

Although it does look too big for the shell, it IS a crawler after all and the spare tire needs to be a proper spare. So I say leave it be. :)

I agree. your spare should be the same as the tires you are using. if it dont match it looks screwy

Re: The XCrawler

Hey Lancer Man, very nice looking truck. I think the regular off road tire looks better, with the super swamper on the back it just looks crowded. What if you painted the off road rim black instead of the chrome so that the difference in rims wouldn't be do noticeable. Just a suggestion.

Re: The XCrawler

It is mounted in the same hole that the stock "skid plate" screws into.

This:

Or this?

And, gotta share this one!

Just one piece of sheet aluminum bent, and then mounted by screwing it in.

I think you should strap the spare tire to the roof rack on top, and put the ladder on the back.

Re: The XCrawler

I have a roof rack and a ladder that goes up the the roof rack...

It looks super crowded on the back with the ladder, though. I am not sure if I will use it.
