Okay guys, here it goes:

I'm starting work on an H2 crawler. It'll be cutting behind the back doors, like this:

I'll make a bumper like this:

It will most likely have a combo skid plate. I also plan to skid plate the rest of the underside of the chassis. I'll put my car suspension front and back (see thread), and I'm going to custom-fab a roll cage. I'll be using the Super Swampers from HPP hobby, an HS-55 servo for the motor, and
Duratrax sealed 6x10mm bearings for the axles and rear differential. I plan on painting the body grey-blue with a base of silver, and the roll cage, bumpers, skidplates, and chassis either gunmetal or flat black.

I'll be updating soon I hope, as soon as I find my $20 and I buy the H2.
I've been well planning this, talking to Donzikid, Texan, and RedSXmodder.

Here's some of the sites of the things I'm buying:

Bearings:

Tires:
https://shop.rpphobby.com/displayProductDocument.hg?productId=167&catego...

Further down the road, I'll be upgrading various parts of the chassis to GPM/Hot racing products.

It's not an Xmod, but it does use Xmod electronics. I guess I can classify it an Xmod, since it does use the main component of them.

Nope. I'm making my own [similar to exitebox's fromScale4x4rc.com]. I have all of the gearing figured out as well.

Re: H2 Crawler [New Design]

Thanks man! I'm not sure if I'll run a body yet or if I'll just use some brass plate to protect the bottom.

Re: H2 Crawler [New Design]

I have a completely new design now. Four link and custom axles, [Like Excitebox's on Scale4x4rc.com] four wheeled steering, [Possibly]. The ESC and electronics will go in the middle tray.

Re: H2 Crawler [New Design]

Look at the other pics. My skid plate covers the whole front half of the chassis. I already tried to fix it, I couldn't get into the motor without destroying it.

Re: H2 Crawler [New Design]

Dont buy another, just fix it. Open it up, and resolder.

Your skidplate is strangely familear

Re: H2 Crawler [New Design]

Well, there's no going back now:

There's still a lot more to go on here, I have a lot of things in my head that I don't want anyone to know about yet.

If you want to keep up with the project, check out my photobucket every couple days or so:

There will be spy photos and some stuff I won't put on here, so don't miss out!

Re: H2 Crawler [New Design]

More updates! Even though the HS-55 is installed and working in these pics, yesterday the small wires fell out of the motor, so I have to go and buy another one.

Sorry for the blurry pics!

It's been a while, I know, but I have some new pics:

There's about 1-2mm between the wheel well and the tire still.

Re: H2 Crawler [New Design]

I finally got my Hummer!! All I did was add the lift kit, (which I had), add different springs in the front, add my baja-style shocks on the rear, add body parts, and I coiled the antenna for an inside the body one. After I ref soccer next weekend, (If I do)I'll buy the servo and order my bearings and the tires. I'll get some pics tomorrow.

Re: H2 Crawler [New Design]

Yeah Texan, I might cut it at the A-pillar, I'll get a pic soon.

Any ideas how avant from Mini-zracer.com did his paperclip steering mod? I'll try that soon I hope. Also, I found cheaper bearings.
http://www.etamiya.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=191_364&products_id=7...

Wouldn't it be cool if I somehow stamped the H2 logo onto my front skid plate like the real ones? I can't think of how I would do it, though.

If I can do that, I'll try to do it without cutting off of the rear body mount. I hope this works!!!!! :D

If I do risk cutiing off the body mount, I'll just cut it like this.

I don't feel like reading the whole thread... Junk, mind writing some spark notes for me? Remember that?

I remember that too....

Texan, I haven't done the Servo Mod yet... I'm getting a SSMT to pour money into... Guess there won't be any time for a Micro-T.... Darn..

Reminds me, I need to order those CoolDragon's if I want them in time!

Eh, I bought it all over time, but yeah, it was a crap-load. That's why I sold it, it was taking every bit of money I got.

Junk, sometimes I think you just have too much money, haha.

I had that whole back-half Idea as well, once I realized how much room the gear box took. Either that, or an H2 truck would be bitchen, make it 2 doors. Like the old h1 pickups they had. Theres a few out there.

I had plenty of pictures up here on it at the time, I just never had the money to get Li-Poly for it. I was saving up, and the suicidal X-2 Pro got me so angry...I just sold it. I had already spent a fortune on electronics. I tried soldering FETs, and fried them with heat when -XCRL- got it and told me that. He stacked them, for some reason, two top FETs constantly broke off, from bumping into the slightest thing at low speeds (don't question his soldering, it was damn good). Then I bought a stacked Nelly for it...ETC. 'Now do you see where I'm coming from?

xmodkidd33, yes, Aoshima's do rule! 8) :D
Yeah, I hope your's is unique with the body work. :)

I am going to, once it becomes feasable.

Junk- what else would I use? Aoshima's RULE! Also, I someone agree what you said with it is similar to other projects, but I think my body mods and some of my setups will be different.

Not exactly, you just want to upgrade your drivetrain parts, you won't be going fast enough to break plastic parts (ie: knuckles, A-arms, shock towers, etc.).

It looks like everyone is using Aoshima's now (it's not like I was an original person that first started using them).

This looks like it will be nice, but similar to all of the other projects going on. :)

Re: H2 Crawler [New Design]

I've heard many things about the HS-55, and most of it was good. I have a tutorial from the AM forums, but it might make it more convenient if you wanted to make one.

EDIT: I think I need a "code name" or an abbreviation for my project. I was thinking something like HTRC-55 for Hi-torque rock crawler, and the -55 for HS-55. If someone else has an idea, feel free to tell me!

Re: H2 Crawler [New Design]

Great choice with the HS-55. If you need a tutorial on the mounting, I'll be glad to write one up.

I used it, and it works awesome. Good luck on this crawler! :P
