Alright guys, I am back into the xmod scene with a project I've been wanting to tackle for a while now. Since funds aren't allowing me to start my 1/10th crawler project, I am gonna do a Xmod Crawler project. Yesterday I hit up one of my local Radioshacks to see if they had any Xmod Trucks in stock. Well lucky me they had two Titans in stock at 19 bucks each! So I picked up two, along with two 4wd kits, and a slammed wheel kit for 59 bucks! Alright on with the plans. So far I have installed the liftkit, 4wd, and cut the offroad tires to fit the slammed wheels. I am gonna get a HS-55 servo for the motor, bearings, alloy dogdones, CF driveshaft, and hopefully a 4runner body for it. I am still iffy on whether to make my own body, or go with the Titan body. LMK what you guys think.

that video.
Nope its not that fast. I'll get a video.
If you have a hobby lobby near ya, they have loads of models..So, Im still alone on the Tamiya gear box
How slow is it? Video? I am going with the gear box body texan did.
It is REALLY REALLY slow. I know it isnt supposed to be fast, but it could be faster.
'Shouldn't have gotten an HS-55.

yeah from the videos i saw it looked alot faster. i wonder wat gearing this guy used. this is my favorite crawler vid. that thing just keeps goin and goin.
Got the Hs55 servo installed quite awhile ago. But been trying to figure out some different gearing. It is REALLY REALLY slow. I know it isnt supposed to be fast, but it could be faster.
Because you get massive amounts of toe when you compress the suspension in the front.
...which would cause bad performance and for the dogbones to pop out.

y would u lock out the suspension? i didnt think a titan would look good lifted.
I locked out the front suspension. But , I just got done slapping it together and was too lazy to put on the shock. It would just be for looks anyways.
y is there no shock???
Got my dogbones in. Did a little quick painted of some parts, and did the articulation mod. The body that is on it is my bros body, mine is still waiting for paint. Still waiting on my stuff from Tower Hobbies.

Get one of the Aoshima Toyota pickup models. That would look cool. Not sure if you want a pickup...

But, it might have a really long wheelbase. :?
i saw one of those at Hobby Lobby. i think its got a really huge wheel base. i wouldnt attempt 2 use it but u could probally make it work. id fail misurably.
Theres a trick with the stock ones anyways, Numbchux figured one way.. The link is some where in my crawler thread, I think someone brought it up.

Hmm. I read that the ones on Liquidrc are for the lift kit.
Just ordered some alloy dogbones.
Careful.
They will slip out a lot, because there is a bit of a difference in the stock dogbone and lift-kit dogbone's lengths.

I wanna get the single cab one, but I don't have enough money. Anyone know if you can just buy the body? All I got is 22 bucks.

Yeah, I got a HobbyTown near by I can hit up. I just placed a order for my HS-55 servo, some aluminum sheets for the mount, and some other stuff. Gonna do the articulation mod tonight.

It is a titan. And I am not using that ford body. I just grabbed it to snap a quick pic of it with a body on. The titan body is currently being painted. I went to my local walmart and they had no truck models, so I'll have to order online.
im not a fan of lifted f150s, but i can c a good starting project there. heres some other forums u may b interested in if u havent already looked.

um i c a ford i thought u said titan??? :? :? :?
nice

Some quickie pics. Nothing special YET. Gonna go to walmart today to get some stuff.
check out some of lancermans stuff. he's done alot with crawlers. not a bad deal 4 the price u paid.
i had that one, it was 2 slow. right now ive got the 25 tooth on the motor, and 23 right after it. its a noticeable difference in speed from yur set up, but im still grinding alittle cuz my gear isnt exactally centerd. its still good enough 4 me though.
B-e-a-utiful job, man. That certainly is a piece of work. ;)
This is the gear I used:

Reasonable speed, still pretty slow.

Alright. Figured. Gonna re gear it today.
i got a motor kit and put the 25 tooth truck one on the servo, and the 23 tooth on the spot its supposed 2 go. ive heard of them using a gen one bevel gear as a pinion cuz its way bigger. if my current setup isnt good, thats where im going.
Pinion has to be it. Alot of people use the bigger gear that goes on the truck that touches the pinion
Yep yep, it is a gears issue... Thats should be easy to fix it.
