Has anyone installed the li-po flat packs on a Gen 1 car? It seems to me that it would work/fit well....just need to figure out how to mount them. Hmmmm.....
Put them under the body. Been done many times that way. Some bodies are a tighter fit than others.
Under the Gen 1 car??? Never would have thunk it, Mongo. It would be a perfect fit where the stock battery tray is since these li-po's are so slim. I will play with it some more and post my results. I cannot believe there is no tutorial for this yet!
Thanks for the reply!

Mini-Z Workshop. I think he shut down his business though.
Thanks cheezman, you are all right! I actually have an original Atomic Nuke 130 in one of my Gen 1 alloy cars and a spin-brush hybrid with neo-mags in the other. I EVEN have 2 of the original Stage 11 180 size motors! Both of the Gen 1's have stock FETs.
MZW = Mini-Z World? That 28 turn sounds mean! Are they still available? Where can I see one? Oh, I have Locktite!
On the Gen 1, if you have stock FETs still, I would recommend any motor that is stock FET safe. When my Gen 1 had Li-Ions I just used a stage 2 in a ball bearing can and that worked fine for me.
On the EVO, I'm not sure, I know it can handle a hotter motor than the Gen1 though, I used to run a MZW 28 Turn at 4.8 volts. Ran perfect until the cars rear end flew apart.
As for the alloy ball diffs, I used the rear one on mine for a little bit, it worked fine, however, the adjusting screw would loosen it's self, so if you do go with them, it's a good idea to use a bit of Loctite.
As for image sizes, I usually use 640x480 or a thumbnail link.
Thanks for the help there, Mongo. I'll figure this stuff out eventually. What is the size limit for posting on this site? I think I can resize them in photobucket.
Cheez - What motors do you suggest? I have been out of the scene for a while. What is new (and cheap)? :) Are the alloy ball diffs a good investment? Definately gonna get some alloy CVD's.
Thanks for the good comments! I have a bunch of custom Xmods I am going to put up on eBay. I will post some pics when I am ready to turn them loose.
I would definitely invest in some alloy drivetrain parts next. Plus a motor that at least has a ball bearing can.
Looks good though.
BTW. Looks good. Nice job. :D
Your pictures were too big and breaking the tables. There should not be a scroll bar at the bottom. Removed image tags but the links are there for all to see.
While we are at it, here is the one I did on my EVO.....

Okay, I will try it again. I think I used all the other links in that area except that one!

Oops, kinda big but it looks good! I can try to resize if the mods need me to. Enjoy!
Simply go to your Photobucket SubAlbum where you uploaded the pictures and look for the link that includes [img] tags. It will look something like this:

Well, I did it but cannot figure out how to post photos on this darn site! :x
I even signed up on Photobucket. Anyway, it came out really nice! I think I like it better than the cylindrical li-ons. If someone can show me the way, I will post up my pictures.
Thanks!
Now that is what I am talking about. Matter of fact, I did see that. It looks like he used double sided tape. Is that right? You won't have as much contact area like on the bottom of the EVO but it should be enough, I would think. Plus, you have the body to hold it on a little. I am going to try that next!
Thanks Cheez!

A lot of people have been running Li-Poly like that; I'm honestly surprised you haven't seen it done yet.
Take a look at Breiti's car: http://www.xmodworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=25490
