So here's what I did:

Start with this:

1. Took the knuckle apart:

2. cut some craft wire about an inche long :

3. wrapped it around the end of one of the screwdrivers in the kit
>basically making a c-clip:

4. compressed it a bit to fit into the knuckle, then i pushed it all the way down to the back:

6. reinstalled everything

I did it on all four wheels and the difference is remarkable!

Sorry about the vid being so dark...

Hope this helps!

just thought of one more thing to share.

Rather than removing the wheels to tighten or loosen the knuckle covers to adjust the freeplay in your wheels everytime, you can get to the srews through the wheels (I can on the lancer with the second smallest screwdriver in the kit):

Gen 1 dont have wobbley wheels exept for the front

Some people offered wider bearings for the wheels to get rid of slop. They were sold as XMOD wide track bearings. You used 6 wide ones, the rest are regular size.

Re: Wobbly Wheel Delete (EVO)

solder DOESN'T work like magic. Falls out easily

does the wobbly wheel effect anything in major? because i tried it and it seems i drift better with the wobbly wheels. i dunno maybe my drifts now is all luck.

It will make traction and steering more unstable.

If you can drift better, looks like you found a personel setup that works for you.

Re: Wobbly Wheel Delete (EVO)

did you do this after the bearing upgrade? what kind of wire did you use? you mentioned something lik 24g, can i use some sort of household wire.

Also, someone mentioned a staple. How would that work?

I have a stock evo tC and the wheel wobble is rediculous. I'm getting the bearing kit soon but am interested in trying this.

Re: Wobbly Wheel Delete (EVO)

I'm going to try this even though I think that its my stock bushing making my wheels wobble. This should be a sticky.

Well if you didn't know, the stock evo car knuckles are the same as the evo truck.

Re: Wobbly Wheel Delete (EVO)

i don think it'll work in a gen1 if u have the bearing upgrade cause those are made to fit perfectly. with the yellow plastic things u might be able to use this upgrade when the plastic things wear down.

Re: Wobbly Wheel Delete (EVO)

ANOTHER problem is that your moving the Dogbone away from the differential by doing this, That can cause the Dogbone to fall out, but its extramly unlikly that will happen.

This will also work with the trucks, right?

Re: Wobbly Wheel Delete (EVO)

it causes a bit of friction, which you can controll by looseing or tightening the screw which holds on the knuckle cover. my car doesn't have a problem , runs great and straight now.

Re: Wobbly Wheel Delete (EVO)

Nice job, I will do that. I was wondering if it creates any friction...?
