Simiple way do build a clear hood, or other parts but I am going to use a hood.
Nevermind my scabby looking car, really its just my tester. So don't worry yours won't look like mine.

Okay first off.

Get A CD case that is not scratched and that you are using. Or go to the $1 store.

Then lay you existing hood on top and blow heat underneath with a heat gun or you sisters blow dryer until the hood starts sinking in. It is a good Idea to a light oit or your moms non stick spray on the hood to prevent it from sticking to case.

Once you have got a good imprint, carefully cut out leaving extra and then replace factory hood back on the cut out cd case

Now carefully with a dremel or sand paper shave it down to fit the profil of the factory hood

Now place it on you car and trim till it fits.

Like I said earlier, dont mind my hamburger car. I use this to create with. Although it looks like hell. It's my favorite to drive.

Good Luck and have fun

Re: CLEAR HOOD

Nice tutorial.

Re: CLEAR HOOD

here is the evo. So the windsheild is that great anymore. I was dumb and didn't take it out or I could have put tape ove the top edge when I was trying to sand The roof. I tried to sand it even along the top and I just hide with a decal or borrow some of my wifes clear nailpolish. Or I suppose I could just make another.

This is the model of my car, I have been testing several paint scenes. Come spring I need to know exactly how Im going to paint my real one. Well Mine isn't an evo, but it still kicks ass. This is the 4th primer job its had. Good thing I work in a body shop hey.

As for my finger, I got a nail through it.

Re: CLEAR HOOD

oh yeah, that hood in the tut. That was not a clean scratch free hood. It was the first cd case I could find.

However, I did make a windsheild for Mitsu Lance Evo viii model. wich in fact did trun out perfect with no polishing.

Re: CLEAR HOOD

Ahh, I hate CD cases. I tried using them for a mockup chassie for my dual-motor xmod, their so brittle.

The heat gun is a really creative way to work with it though, good idea.

Re: CLEAR HOOD

This one doesn't seem quite as clean and well-rounded, though still a creative use of heat gun. I reckon you'd have to trim the resultant hood very carefully and then polish like mad till it's all even and clear.
