this was posted in "tips n tricks" just copied it over here.

4 of us got together and made a really cheap track for around $40 cdn. it works well and is fun.
What we used was 1/4" polysterene foam board. (styrofoam). The pink stuff though, as its more solid, has a very smooth surface and wont flake apart like regular white styrofoam. We actually cut all the peices on a computerized router table so the peices are an exact fit to each other, but you can cut peices by hand. The bumpers are foam pipe insulators, and are just taped on for easy removal. May try somethin else, as these seem to make the car "stick" and bounce back when hit. The whole track is just taped togehter for easy removal and installation and storage. It measure something around 12feet by 10feet. If we want banked turns, we just stick pillows under the turns and it works great.

hope the pics work here.

I have broken two cup joints n my F150 and multiple knuckles on my cars. Not to mention dog bones. So yeah - heavy crashes = lots of little plastic shards at my house also.

im in brandon, manitoba.

sorry no i dont have any plans that i could put online. My sister did all the thinking stuff and whatnot on her computer at work.

heres a video of us runnin on the track

so far we have run several days worth (weekend racing), and the styrofoam is holding up great!. you can see the trickier parts on the track are dinged up, from roll overs etc. and a few hard turns, the foam is gettin chewed up. but hey. 45cents to replace a 3 foot chunk who cares.

Very nice! BTW - the insulation at the hardware store is in three colors - blue, pink or white. Both blue and pink are solid and do not crumble. The white does. So go ahead and choose bluye or pink. The blue and pink are different companies brands of the same thing., The white stuff is the same chemical composition as the blue and pink boards but formed differently and results in a crumbly material.

I might make one, if it was only 40. I would go blue, but for some reason i'm really diggin' the pink.

EDIT: Just to let you know, 40 CAD = $35.0039

hey look a fellow canuk must suck not having evos up here huh?
where abouts in canader are you from?

lol back on topic i really like the way you have you course laid out simple and clean i might have to borrow this lay out for my track when it comes time to make one.

:?: where did you get the pink stuff?

:!: for the edges you could tape poster board to the pipe insulation to make it springy yet not have your cvars stick to them.
