I have found a good and relatively inexpensive track material. Its good for indoor or outdoor use. Costco sells an outdoor carpet that comes in 6x9 peices. If you flip that over, the underside is a nice rubber type material. It gives great traction. You can use black duct tape from home depot to put the peices together. Then just use PVC pipe to layout a track. you can use duct tape to secure the PVC to the surface. It works great. I have built an 18' x 24' outdoor track for $200. My racing buddies LOVE it. I will post pictures of it later. If you have access to a Costco, go check this material out.
